What illness(s) are you treating?

I absolutely cannot answer your question. However, there are other ways of increasing GABA levels in the brain.

- Gabitril (tiagabine) is a GABA reuptake inhibitor.

- Nardil (phenelzine) is a GABA transaminase inhibitor.

- Depakote (valproate) is a GABA transaminase inhibitor, succinate-semialdehyde dehydrogenas inhibitor, and a GABA reuptake inhibitor.

For depression and/or anxiety disorders, Nardil would be the best choice. As an antimanic drug in bipolar disorder, Depakote is a better choice. Nardil can actually induce mania. Gabitril is an unpredictable drug. For many people, it helps with anxiety and insomnia. However, some people react to it with agitation.
