can somebody explain AEDs for bipolar?

Posted by Christ_empowered on May 14, 2015, at 14:15:43

And craziness in general? I take 1200 Trileptal and 100 Lamictal. Doing well, although I think the combo slows me down (which would explain the 400mgs Wellbutrin SR, lol).

Then there are people on Depakote. Tegretol. I suspect that a lot of people on barbiturates back in the day would be on some sort of AED today. Are they just sedatives? Is there some specific anti-crazy mechanism?

Also...what kind of long term probs can come up? I read that there's b vitamin depletion to contend with, which is perfectly terrifying. Anything else? Why does depakote cause hair loss so often?

Thanks in advance.
