I think it means that this reuptake inhibition is believed to be the course of action.
It is known that they inhibit serotonin reuptake but it is not known if this is what constitutes their "antidepressant effect".
Please correct me if i am out of line here.
I set that in quotes because for me there is no such thing with ssri. And i have good company!
