If Effexor fails to produce a robust antidepressant / anxiolytic effect, it might make sense to try combining it with Remeron or nortriptyline. Wellbutrin makes a good augmenter to Effexor for depression, but it might be too stimulating for you.

A friend of mine has a soft-bipolar presentation that includes a mixed-state and social anxiety. Her doctor just prescribed Latuda (lurasidone) for her. I'll let you know how she reacts to it.
