I think it's a good summary of the general approach taken by many doctors and therapists. I have chosen - searched for years and finally found - a fairly holistic team of a psychiatrist and therapist. They tend to look at biological causes first, sociological causes next (relationships and family) and finally to making medical changes. My T is on the phone with my pdoc on a regular basis with clients they share, with disclosures agreed to.
I like how they work and don't jump to a single conclusion at once. Alternative treatments are also encouraged, like acupuncture. A healthy lifestyle, they espouse, will lead to a healthier patient. For me it's walking and meditating.
