I have not researched this subject very much, but it does seem that antipsychotics can reduce brain volume to some relatively small and variable degree according to quite a few studies. One confounding factor in studies is that many people with untreated schizophrenia have reduced volume of brain tissue and enlarged brain ventricles.

For now, I am not concerned with these findings, and continue to take an antipsychotic (Abilify). I have not seen any literature associating AP-induced tissue shrinkage to alterations in mental function.
