I think the choice is sound given that there is no information specifically indicating that Latuda (lurasidone) is ineffective as a treatment for racing thoughts or mania in general. There really isn't enough clinical experience with Latuda to provide a consensus regarding its therapeutic or side effect profiles. I haven't come across anything that would lead me to believe that there is a greater risk of dangerous adverse effects with Latuda than with other atypical neuroleptic antipsychotics. My own experience with Latuda was that it produced unacceptable brain-fog and cognitive blunting. I don't know how often this happens to others.
