I was on clonazepam for about ten years, and stopped it about 11 weeks ago. Still going through withdrawal symtoms, which I expect to continue for some time.I would be surprised if there was any cure but time. I don't think withdrawals are caused by low GABA, so much as changes in receptors and gene expression that occur on benzos.
I think alcohol can give some short term relief, but it might slow down the healing process. Sometimes though all that matters is being able to enjoy your evenings once in a while, and avoid relapse.
