I don't think the pot delayed the onset of psychotic disorder. I don't think it affected it in anyway. It was mainly usefull in helping me get through without meds in the beginning. I find it helps me sleep and slow me down. probably helped with the initial PTSD symptoms after the accident, before meds. After the accident I went through many different stages of on pot and off. At first I smoked all day every day. Then I think I quit and went to college. Durring first semester I didn't smoke or drink. And according to mom I sounded pretty much like I was losing it when I would talk on the phone. Then I went home and smoked once and durring that same trip she said I told her the TV was talking to me. I went back to college and got really bad. Not really sure what I was doing then, my memory is not that good at that time, which also happened to be right before my hospital stay and all the ECT. So maybe that is why I don't remember much of it. Later I moved to NC and was on Zyprexa and did realy well for all the time I was taking the Z. Which has been off and on and different doses for the last 15 years. Yes I also smoked pot off and on, but realy my mental state had to do with whether or not I was on a good dose of Z. Pot is sort of a usefull bandaid, when I don't take meds that work, and have problems sleeping and calming down. If I had to guess, the pot did not make me worse.

Ya, the weight loss while taking zyprexa right now does not make much sense, since it did make me gain weight in the past. Maybe its the generic I take or maybe they are watered down. Maybe perphenazine does something with the Z? I would realy like to know. Anouther thought is that I quit smoking around the time the zyprexa didn't work as well, could that be the culprete? I still take nicotine. I'm just very limited in the # of cigs I smoke since then. Also the z was less effective right after the abilify trial of 6 months. What's your opinion? 10mg Z is my typical dose all this time. Which is what I take now. I don't know Its all a mystery .
