Now, my case was somewhat above her expertise from the beginning and she always asked me what my ideas were before she would make her suggestion for a med that I could try. But I was thankful to have a pdoc that didn't tell me I was delusional when I told her about medication having seemingly permanent effects on me. And she did seem very knowledgable. She diagnosed me with depesonalization and nearly an absence of affect.

But so far it seems no doctors are well versed in what to do in a case like mine, where medication has longterm effects on me, whether bad or good, 99% of the time. I'm pretty much out of ideas for meds to try and have been looking into herbal things, but I'm just hoping to find an answer from a good psychiatrist. Or at least to be pointed in the right direction. Maybe Deep Brain Stimulation. I just don't know.

Talking to pdocs is difficult and even stressful for me. Rarely do I know what to say and thus always bring some notes.

Out of the countless herbals/supplements etc which I have tried Licorice Root Extract was exceptionally promising but I had to stop taking it due to a bleeding side effect which I may have brought upon myself due to possible interaction with Resveratrol. Should not be taken together.

Anyway, Licorice root had a very noticable benefit in terms of greater ability to enjoy things, increased sense of general happiness, positive emotion, and empathy. Some positive effects can be felt within a day even if initially they appear subtle.

More widely it is used for Adrenal Fatigue among other things but the anti-depressant effect is very clear. Some people claim it functions a bit like an herbal SSRI. It also enhances progesterone hormone levels which could explain the lovey dovey positive type feelings I had.
