I dont think slowly increasing would reduce the effectiveness of the drug at the end of the processw, it would just take longer to reach an effective dose.

Start low, go slow is usualy a good motto where psychotropic drugs are concerned.

If things are especialy bad, it might be wise to aim for 200mg. You could also ad a high potency benzo (Xanax, Klonopin, Ativan)for a 2-3 to break the back of your relapse quickly.
