I had a similar experience with various SSRIs they made me so anxious and I guess you could say manic that at one point I ended up in the ER. (That was on paxil) . Long story short after these drug reactions I ended up with the dx of bipolar although I never had any manic symptoms before the drugs. And by the way it took a long long time for the symptoms to fade. I think it messes with your brain chemistry. So I kind of agree with the whole "it can't be that the drugs don't work...the dx must be wrong theory". Good luck.
