I am guessing that you would profit from taking a minimum of 600 mg/day (300 b.i.d.) of Triletal for now. What does your doctor say about all of this?

If you feel that your illness is serious enough, you might need to compromise and take a serious medication to treat it successfully = MAOI. (Of course, all of these drugs are serious). For me, the diet restrictions are pretty easy to get along with, and certainly worth the trade off in my feeling better. Of course, there is no guarantee that you won't have an adverse reaction to one of these drugs.

What about Effexor?

I would like to know what you mean by "manic". Can you describe your experiences?
