> Mr pdoc switched me from ativan to clonazepam about 6 months ago. I've been taking clonazepam 0.5 2x daily and 1mg ativan at night for sleep. I haven't felt well since I started clonazepam but wanted to give it a fair trial. My question is do I need to taper off clonazepam and increase ativan or can I just stop clonazepam and go back to ativan only?

I'm sorry for not replying to your post. I simply don't know the answer to your question. Perhaps a cross-titration is best. Clonazepam does a few things pharmacologically that Ativan does not. Some of these things involve serotonin. It might be better to wean off of the clonazepam gradually as you increase the Ativan. What does your doctor recommend?

I am also interested to know in what ways clonazepam affects you in a negative manner. For me, clonazepam causes me to become moderately more depressed. It feels disgusting to me. By comparison, I find Ativan to be very "clean" with no negative effects on mood or cognition.
