I understand your mode of thinking because it's how I too sometimes think, but I don't think the answers lie in whether you take 50mg or 100mg. I've read reports of people suffering from depression who used ketamine recreationally, i.e. at doses far exceeding 100mg IN, and they got a strong antidepressant effect from it.
Of course, this doesn't mean that this is the case for everybody, and going to 50mg is a good idea in my opinion, but I think it's somewhat unlikely that this will be the answer you are hoping for.
