I am feeling better.

:-)

So far, I have no logical reason to believe that I will not improve further. Of course, one of my fears is that I will soon plateau and not achieve remission. However, yesterday was my best day so far.

Great. Thanks.

> I've been on the reduced dose of lithium (300mg) for a few weeks now. Haven't experienced any depression problems, but I had an episode of dissociation/internal panic that really scared me. I was surprised to have that happen because that usually happens when I try to reduce Seroquel.

Are you bipolar? What are your diagnoses? Are these things symptoms of your original illness?

> I thought those episodes were a function of anxiety/panic. Could it also happen from decreasing lithium?

I can see that happening. Any time you perturb the system, you might experience negative consequences that are unpredictable. Hopefully, it is only a temporary effect and not a sign of relapse. However, if you are bipolar or schizoaffective, relapse is a possibility.

> I'm supposed to increase my anafranil dose in 5 days.

Good luck with that. Unless your illness gets worse, I encourage you to not get too hung up on the side effects so early in treatment. Anafranil is a "dirty" drug, which is thought to be why it works so well. It combines the side effects of a tricyclic and and a SSRI. Even the anticholinergic effects might contribute to its therapeutic effects.

I wish I had something definitive to offer you. Let us know if you continue to experience the dissociation/internal panic.
