Hi.

It's been awhile, hasn't it? Nice to see you.

To answer your question, I can only refer you to a poster who, at the time, was posting as "pfinstegg". This person went for maintenance treatments at intervals between 3-6 months. I have not heard from any source that TMS produced a persistent therapeutic effect for which no maintenance treatments were needed. It is like ECT in this regard.

The practitioner was taken aback by my suggestion that, after the initial six-week course, done every day, I might come in for weekly or biweekly sessions to keep it working. The reason, I was told, was that TMS was a more or less permanent solution, that it was 'not like ECT' in that it wasn't temporary.

(I have major depressive disorder without ever achieving full remission--so far I've always needed to continue whatever treatment there is to maintain its efficacy)

Some see things as they are and ask why.
I dream of things that never were and ask why not.
