MAO inhibition test: anyone had it done?

Posted by Zonked on August 6, 2011, at 17:08:57

I've read about this test in books and academic literature, but wonder who I should call to inquire about which labs do it and what it's called medically or if there is some medical term or number for it. Once, I called a local lab and they had no idea what I was talking about. Was thinking of calling Stanford or Harvard psych departments on Monday, anyone have any info at all on this test or had it done in the US? I think it may help me and the doc determine if I am getting 100 percent MAO inhibition which is what I want. If I'm there and have been there for awhile with Nardil it may be time to try another agent. Or augmentation. I am scared. I start to wonder about buprenorphine but that'd be a hard or impossible sell. Amphetamines like Dexedrine and Adderall are pretty much curative but at any prescribed dose, tolerance develops within two weeks. I wonder if my brain is just very efficient at forcing me back to my set point on matter WHAT I take. I wish someone could just replace the parts of my DNA that make me so resistant and get some permanent relief. Nobody except others who have to live like this get it. Sorry for being a whiner. I just want to be able to live like most people. I wish I could believe in religion, those people seem so okay with things, but it doesn't make sense to me. May we all stay alive long enough to get relief.
