I have no known physical health complications. If I end up trying it, which bad signs should I watch for? I'm guessing the risk for liver failure to the point where going to the ER wouldn't result in resolution is very rare? Anyone know the exact statistics? What's the dosage range for mood stabilization in general? I'm thinking of trying 500 or 1000 mg.

That's a pretty good range to start with. Personally, I need 1500mg to avert a manic episode.

I guess you should keep close monitoring for signs of jaundice and act on its appearance immediately. Hepatitis is a possible outcome of extended treatment. If you do not manifest with elevated liver enzymes after 6 months, you will likely not display a reaction. Thereafter, once a year monitoring should be adequate.
