However, it will change the way you think, feel, and act to be able to live life better.----Well, to be honest, it did feel like a miracle drug when it started to stabilize me. However, I don't want to give anyone else false hope that it would do the same for them, because (a) every person is different, and (b) I was in partial-hospitalization when I first started taking it. So I was going through intensive cognitive behavioral therapy at the same time. I feel like that could have also played a role in my moods stabilizing. I can't be too sure, but I think it probably helped.

----Thank you :) It's been so long since I've been on these boards- How are you doing these days? Have you found something that works well?> Trileptal is growing in popularity. You just need to watch for hyponatremia (low sodium). Other than that, Trileptal has advantages over Tegretol with respect to side effects. It didn't really help me, but it didn't hurt.
----Yeah, I was afraid of that low sodium side effect at first, but my doctor told me it rarely happens, and to only a small percentage of people. I also *heard* you're only at risk for hyponatremia within the first 3 months of treatment with Trileptal. Have you heard this? In any case, so far so good here :)
----I will tell you what, though. I really did feel absolutely intoxicated, hammered, wasted drunk for about the first 2 weeks straight of taking it. Zero alcohol in my system...Yet I could not drive anywhere. I had trouble walking straight, and holding a normal conversation. It was pretty awkward for awhile :) Then it just lifted. So strange! One of the weirdest side effects I've experienced. Have to say.
