I'm still trying to understand the science behind why a 2 week period would be necessary. It makes sense that say a SSRI user who wants to start a MAOI, they have to wait up to 4-5 half lifes before starting to avoid the risk of serotonin system. It also makes sense that after a MAOI, the user must wait 2 week before then can start a sertonergic drug because the MAO enzyme take about 2 weeks to reactivate. But if it's MAOI to MAOI (which generally have short half lives), why the 2 week waiting period? MAO would still deactivated.
