i'm bipolar 2 since the age of 18. Hypomania is usually the direction I go in. I'm very good at avoiding and killing hypomania.
Lithium worked for me the first day I took it. It immediately quenched a mixed state in me. I know my reaction is somewhat abnormal, but I think there are some genetics to the way people respond to lithium. There's almost a subdiagnosis of bipolar disorder for people who respond to lithium.
And other people really can't stand it.
