It was approved for GAD in Europe in '06 I believe, but the FDA rejected it for that indication. It's approved for seizures, neuropathic pain and fibromyalgia in the US.

It's Schedule V in the US, which means the FDA feels it has less abuse potential than benzos, which are in Schedule IV.

If its anxiolytic qualities are anything like Neurontin (I have heard great things here and elsewhere) I hope Pfizer persues it. I don't know why it was rejected.

I am not Pfizer's biggest fan for what they did to Nardil tho--although I never took the old one, and the new one worked for me for awhile, I've read horrible accounts of suffering due to their negligance.
