Hi Mattias,
Sounds a bit like my reaction to coffee. When I feel tired during the day, coffee often makes me more tired and I need to sleep. If I drink coffee at night, I still feel tired but it sometimes disturbs my sleep. Whatever the caffeine was doing it's clearly not what I need. I guess the same applies to modafinil for you.
