Hi Courtney,

I am not a doctor, but the reason for the 2 week "wash out" period is because SSRIs up the amount of serotonin and other chemicals in your body chemistry.
"Seroquel is thought to be an antagonist for two primary neurotransmitters (chemicals in the brain), serotonin and dopamine." (Rusk, 2009)
For this reason, seroquil might cause might cause serotonin syndrome when used with an MAOI. And in order for seroquil to not interact with the new MAOI you are trying, you have to be off of it for two weeks. So my advice would be to proceed with caution.
