I have been taking Benadryl off and on for years as a sleep aid with Nardil. Of course you can't mix a decongestant or cough suppressant with the diphenhydramine HCL, but has anybody ever had a reaction from a MAOI and just straight Benadryl?

Serotonin syndrome is a possible reaction from combining the two drugs given that Benadryl inhibits the reuptake of serotonin. However, it does not seem to be at all common. I have never come across it. I used Benadryl for a week or so when I first started taking Parnate. I experienced no adverse effects.
