Hi Julie,
I have taken phenelzine up to 120mg for a short time. The usual max dosage is 90mg even though it is quoted that the effective dose is 1mg per kg or body weight. Everybody is different and I don't really think you can go with this formula. I currently have been able to lower my dosage to 60mg after many years at 90mg. The side effects of the medication are so much less for me at this lower dosage. I am a large man and at the time I was using 120mg I was about 130kg body weight.
Sometimes it takes the higher dosages to work. I also augment with 2mg daily of clonazepam for my social anxiety. Since both medications affect GABA, they seem to work synergistically for this affliction. The trouble with long term benzo usage is the affect on memory. CRS, if you know what I mean.
