maybe your pdoc is like a lot of others, especially young ones who haven't had much hospital practice, that are afraid of the MAOIs, and freaked out by mixing them with a tricyclic. Maybe when you mentioned Nortriptyline it scared him.I'm having truly great results since I switched from amytriptyline to nortriptyline. I was so afraid of insomnia that I didn't switch away from amytriptyline as soon as I should have. I really haven't had but a couple of nights of bad sleep while making AD changes. So far (a week) the Nortriptyline is fine for sleep. Plus, the N. is fabulous in the mix of Parnate, Nuvigil and Nortriptyline. I'm feeling better than I have in a long long time.
I hope everything comes together for you. It seems like you had just gotten to a place of feeling GOOD and now this!
