Hormones And Meds to Treat Thyroid Included

Posted by Phillipa on April 22, 2009, at 20:57:17

Today was the day I went back to the MD that deals with bioidentical hormones and antiaging. This man is fabulous and extremely educated. Won't give name here but will via babblemail. Anyway he had the results of my hormal bloodwork back from lab and thyroid also. Come to find out I have basically no hormones and testosterone is virtually 0 explains why no libido. And FSH is still high l0 years after last menses. He said this is extremely rare as once through this time it should again drop. And Although see an Endo he never tests Free T3 and that is also low. His knowledge is astounding as he did what we do quite often went into how insulin is bioidentical and agreed that synthroid also bio was never approved by the FDA . I brought that up. Story on that is when the generic versions came out the got angry and wanted to know why they had to go through FDA approving and synthroid never had. LOng story short it was grandfathered in. Well He not only uses creams and gels but FDA approved bioidentical hormones for treatment. I chose the creams as least expensive but will go the more expensive route if no improvement in a month. Let me list the meds. I know some will recognize the names of some of the meds. Here goes starting with estrogen:l. transdermal: patch-vivelle, climara gel-Estrogel, Divigel, Elestrin. Lotion: Estrasorb. Cream compounded. Spray Evamist which he said is very good. Parentarel: subcutaneous pellets 3-6 months Im injections every month. 3. Sublingual lozenge-troche,4. vaginal ring-femring three months5. oral only if estriol. Progesterone: Oral capsule at sleep (helps sleep) Transdermal cream, Sublingual lozenges troche. Testosterone: Sublingual loz-troche, transdermal cream, Parenteral sub cu pellets, Im injection. Testosterone: Troche, Transdermal cream, Pellets again and Im again. That's females. Males: Testoserone: l. transdermal cream compounded, Patch-testopatch (everyday), gel-androgel. Parenteral pellets 4-6 months, Im 1-4 weeks. That's the list. But also found out my FSH was way over a hundred and after a few years after menopause should drop and mine hasn't which he said was strange. Since so many post about sexual issues hope this helps. Menopausal time my neighbor was smashing things on the spray from her ob-gyn evamist, and progesterone cream. She said two weeks later her rages diminished and she started sleeping well and was able to cut down on the xanax she'd taken for years. Well here's hoping. Not to be anti-med not intended that way but as his book states he's never heard of a lack of just random pick prozac, celexa. Did say I probably will need benzos for rest of my life as geez almost 40 years now. And is even trying to find me a pdoc. As he knows a pschotherapist and thought inappropriate for me to call so the office will and see who she recommends he has my permission to discuss me. Love Phillipa
