> Scott you know I've wondered the same exact thing. Know two people that did one is fine the other nothing changed she travels in NYC for her endo. I am so faithful to taking this med right. And it's scarey as getting older. I know my neice has nodules and the scan hers and said almost burned out. But it's stable.

Mine's been stable since it burnt itself out last year. Like almost everyone with hashi, your levels/output varies in bursts. Its entirely different to just having it removed with goitre. There the thryoid can regrow and you don't even need meds.. most my ancestors did it this way I found out later!!(some may have been partial thryoidectomies, but all were told they were total and all have normal functioning thryoids over 40 or 50 years later, with perfect TSH and no meds.. beat that??
But with hashi, the question is, does it remove the antibodies , removing the thyroid gland? I didnt know so didnt persue tyring to get someone to remove my thyroid gland.
On replacement meds you never are as good as your own thryoid gland, so I just kept hoping the antibodies would go away and i'd recover.. its possible, but highly unlikely!
The thing is, ldn may offer some hope of supressing those antibodies with your own immune system and perhaps one day a recovery??? So far I don't think it has.. but its a thought. Its the kind of thing I've been looking for, but probably too late for me as my little remaining thryoid tissue is not normal in ultrasound.
I get the hashi antibodies form my other side of my family.. there the females all have hashi(and some lupus), and grandmother died , probably from same in mid 20's. It was said she was very tired...
That's why I'm so interested in ldn, but not too hopeful of course.
BTW me and others don't take the same amount of meds daily.. we have to try to figure out if we feel we need more or not.. difficult as you get tired from too much as well, but its a more wired tired. Of course I'd never mention this to my doctors!.. but if you think about it it makes sense as your thryoid is not ouputting the same amount..
Best wishes,
Jan
