I used liquid (pediatric) Prozac to titrate my starting dosing, to minimize side effects. I went up by 2.5 mg increments weekly. I think I got the best balance of benefit vs side effects at about 12.5 mg/day.

I don't think you need to start as low as you're contemplating, nor increase the dose as slowly as you suggest. You'll know as you proceed what your actual tolerance is.
