What color is your urine? (Seriously)

Posted by SLS on December 10, 2008, at 15:17:22

I observed many years ago that the color of my urine changes with changes in the severity of depression and upon responding to treatment.

My urine is clear when I am feeling more depressed, and an almost fluorescent yellow when I begin to respond to treatment. It can fluctuate from day to day or even hour to hour. It is always a reflection of my current depressive state.

The pigment in the urine that gives it a yellow color is called urochrome. It is my guess that the change of color from clear to yellow is an index of protein turnover. There might be a growth hormone thing going on here.
