Agomelatine plus MAOI / Abilify

Posted by uncouth on November 8, 2008, at 10:25:46

Hi,

I can get my hands on some agomelatine, and it's something I'm interested in trying as I've always had chronic sleep problems along with my bipolar depression. (PLEASE DO NOT ask or babblemail me about how to get some).

My questioin is, to those of you who have researched this substance, is agomelatine contraindicated with MAOIs, theoretically or practically? It looks like via the receptors it touches that it won't cause any problems, but I want to be careful.

Same thing with Abilify -- it hits different receptors (5ht2c/b rather than abilify's antagonist action at 5ht2a) so I do not presume any interactions, but you never know, right?

Thanks.
