Past exposure is one thing. I wouldn't take desipramine in the future. There are alternatives, wellbutrin, nortryptaline, protryptaline, reboxatine, atomoxatine, which may pose less risk.
As far as past exposure, it doesn't mean you are necessarily going to get cancer. Its just an increased risk factor as a product of exposure level and time.
