Why would you want to allow MAO activity to return?

Cross-tapering from one MAOI onto another would seem the most sensible and efficient approach, but failing that, a more cautious option would be to wait a few half lives of the discontinued MAOI before starting titration of the new MAOI.

What is the half-life of phenelzine (Nardil)?
