Dysthymia - any success stories? med recommends?

Posted by michael on May 26, 2008, at 16:03:51

Just wondering what med(s) people've had success with for dysthymia, how much, etc.

I know amisulpride is supposed to be good for dysthymia. SSRI's don't work for me - make me too spacey/sleepy/forgetful/etc.

I currently take 450 mg wellbutrin xl, and 60 mg dexedrine spansules. Much better than with no meds, but still plenty of room for improvement, so...?

Btw, I've tried adding pramipexole/mirapex - no effect. Same result when adding lamictal. I have also tried parnate in the past, which was helpful, but still left me low on energy, (similar to wellbutrin) and doc's generally aren't too comfortable with adding stims to maoi's (for the energy).

I'm currently trying adding abilify - just 2.5 mg. Other thoughts bouncing around in my head include selegiline 10 mg/day, amantadine (?100 mg twice daily - just a guess, haven't really looked into it seriously yet). Any others with successful experiences, or other ideas? Thanks.

Michael
