Is 20mgs. Of Geodon too low of a dose?

My pdoc said i could go up to 40mgs., in combination w/Prozac 40mgs. This is only my 2nd day, my question is, should i stay at 20mgs., or go to 40mgs. for more effect? I'm taking it for tr depression. Thanks. Also, can anyone tell me how Geodon works?
