Seroquel sleepy?

Posted by Sheilac on April 14, 2008, at 9:20:21

My doc perscribed 50 - 100 mg of seroquel every night along with .5mg - 1mg of xanax a day as needed. Since I am terribly afraid of weight gain, I have only been taking 50mg of seroquel at night for the past 6 months and it has really helped me sleep. I've noticed lately that that is wearing off. So I have added a xaxax to the seroquel and it knocks me out for the night.

This weekend I tried 100mg of seroquel. I felt very hung over the next day, but I didn't have a care in the world. I was very relaxed, not depressed or manic and little things didn't bother me. I did feel consiptated though.

I know my doc really wants me to take the full 100mg, but will I gain weight? Will the sleepy feeling wear off? Is there something I can do to deal with the sleepiness?

I have been working really hard to lose 22 lbs in the last 3 months and I plan to lose about 30 more this year - I don't want the seroquel to hinder that.

Any suggestions? Its seems like a good med.
