In the meantime, he recommended 5htp (50mg) twice a day, Vitamin D3 (1000 IU) once a day (I might up this to 2000 IU based on what I've read), and a multivitamin (including 400 IU D) once a day. He said his patients have had better experiences with 5htp than St. John's Wort. He also recommended exercise and avoiding alcohol.

It is much more restrictive than when I got my first (and so far only) adopted child 4 years ago. I think the occassional horror stories of disturbed adoptive parents make their way back to the countries who are outraged that their children (who were/are being left to rot in institutions - some compassion!) were put in these situations (although the average for such horrors is considerably lower than with birth parents). At any rate, I'll toe the line to get my next child.

Hi,

Another good thing I strongly reccomend is Omega 3's. This will help with anxiety and depression.

I think adoption is a wonderful gift to give a child. I admire you for that. It breaks my heart when I see stories about the Romanian orphanages. Thank God the U.S. is putting pressure on their goverment to provide better quality of life for these unfortunate children. Of course, these situations are of the extreme.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

:) PB
