I stopped the Cymbalta because after 4-5 months I was still depressed. It didn't help with anxiety either. I also had constant severe heartburn with Cymbalta. i have been on an antidepressant of one sort or another since 1986. I was depressed long before that but self medicated with opiates and taking too much Ativan. Before the opiates, I self medicated with speed.

I actually got much better in 1986 when i was put on imipramine. The side effects were pretty awful but I didn't know any better and just tolerated them. Then my doctor took me off imipramine and put me on Prozac when it came out. I did more or less okay for about 8 years except for the Prozac insomnia, then it pooped out. I was switched to Effexor and that helped immensely for 4-5 years (insomnia much less also>

Then in 2001 a series of traumatic events started unfolding. My mom got alzheimer's, lots of money issues with my sister about paying her bills and my dad's for assisted living. This was mostly ongoing trauma for 2-3 years. Then in 2004 my Effexor pooped out , my father died in July and Hurricane Ivan came and devasted the town where I live (Gulf Coast of Alabama). I started seeing a psychiatrist in September and it had been a merry-go round since then of different meds and combinations of meds - at least 30, maybe more. Nothing has worked. Klonopin and Geodon help a bit but I am still deeply depressed and very anxious (it's more like scared than anxious).

So Nardil is kind of a last resort. I pray it works for me and that I am able to tolerate the side effects.

As a side note, Cymbalta had the same effect on my husband as on you. He couldn't stay awake.

I'm not familiar with them all but others here may be or there are lists you can get online by googling MAO's, adverse reactions with other medications or something like that.
