Constipation can easily be treated. I take Marplan (another MAOI) & treat the constipation with Dulcolax (bisacodyl) 10mg at night when needed. For Nardil I used both lactulose solution and glycerol (Glycerin suppositories) and combining them both had the best effect.

The urine retention can be harder to treat, especially at the beginning, but will correct itself eventually. Dont mean to scare you but when on Nardil I actually needed a catheter fitted for several weeks! When they took it out all was fine & they gave me long tube-like catheters for self-catheterisation. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003972.htm Personally, I think I should have been given these from the beginning!
But perhapse a catheter was not necessary. There are drugs which can help with urine retention - Bethanechol is one. Others that might work are Alpha-blockers & 5-a-reductase inhibitors: http://www.patient.co.uk/showdoc/40025196/
However, they do make this point: "Acute urinary retention with a painful, distended bladder should never be treated with medication, but with catheterisation and drainage of the retained urine, followed by further investigations to ascertain its cause."

Good luck!
