I started out on 10mg of Abilify and within a week had the akathisia in a horrible way. Couldn't watch TV, couldn't sit at the computer to work, only thing that made me feel OK was moving around doing housework, painting the garage etc... Even sitting in a car waiting to get somewhere made me wanna jump out of the window...

Reduced the med to 5mg and the akathisia reduced but didn't go away. Reduced it again to 2.5 per day, but at 1.25 every 12 hours... The akathesia is almost gone, but so are the effects of the Abilify...

Every time I try to go back up to 2.5mg per day it comes back.

Talked with my pharmacist about all of the different options. His answer was Pindolol. A betablocker, like Propranolol, but it has an antidepressant element, and it won't lower my blood pressure as much. Also it directly effects the whatever that is causing the akathisia...

I will let you know how it effects the akathisia as I'm supposed to titrate the Abilify back up while taking the Pindolol.
