A "non-preferred" brand means there are other options (prescription folic acid, for example, instead of Deplin). Marplan is also considered a "non-preferred" durg according to my insurance. Those drugs are $50 a month and the "preferred" drugs are $30 for the brand name or $5 for generic. It's not right that they decide which drugs are "preferred" or "non-preferred", but what can you do?
