See my post under your other thread "most activating AD...". Provigil seems to work on dopamine and norepinephrine uptake systems, but the exact mechanisms are only now being explored. I've used it in conjunction with several antidepressants (now Cymbalta) and found it very helpful for amotivational, anhedonic symptoms, focus, and lethargy. Don't know if it would be enough of an antidepressant used alone though.
