Strattera vs. Desipramine

Posted by mrsmith on November 30, 2007, at 14:43:39

Anyone in babbleland know how these meds differ (other than that strat costs about 10X more than desipramine?) Are the cardiac risks similar? can it be combined with A/D's.

What's prompting these questions is stimulant tolerance (DX: ADD-inattentive type); a switch seems like a better alternative than a holiday.

BTW, I have had a good prior experience with desipramine (except for some hyponmania that was more or less controllable) - I found DES helped not only ADD but was a great mood brightener too - an attribute of Adderall/Dex long gone ...

Thanks for any responses!
