I used to work in rehab, and a few of the docs I worked with swore by Pamelor for post-stroke depression. I used to have a couple of research articles about this, but I can't seem to put my fingers on them, sorry.
The distance between you makes it hard to offer support, and I know from my own experience, it makes me feel more helpless, too. I hope she finds some lasting relief soon.
