Hi Phillipa!
I'm happy to hear that you got good news with your lab results! I'm not familiar with the other conditions you talked about, but I was curious about the adjustments made of your Synthroid.I was first put on 50 mcg of Synthroid a little over two years ago. For 6+ months following, I had TSH measured frequently, and the level was always at the high end of normal (between 4.0 and 5.0, I think). Then, for some months, I was manic, and the next TSH showed that I was actually in a hyperthyroid state. My PCP actually speculated that I was using my thyroid medication for weight loss purposes, which was totally untrue. I think the difference may have been the way I was taking the Synthroid. Before, I took the Synthroid sometime after getting up, most often with food. During my manic period, I had no appetite and was super-active, so I took the Synthroid first thing in the morning, then worked out and went about my day without food. I know food affects absorption, but do you think it does to that extent? I haven't had my thyroid tested in about a year now, but I feel like my metabolism has slowed down. I'm wondering whether I should go back to waiting about an hour after taking Synthroid before eating?
Anyway, congratulations on your good news!
