I suspect the problem in both cases is that you changed the dose too quickly; first, the titration you were given was much more rapid than recommended (hence the severe side effects) and secondly, I think you withdrew too quickly (hence had severe withdrawal effects). Have you started taking anything else since quiting Parnate? Maybe that's contributing to the anxiety in some way? I quit Parnate cold-turkey several times and mostly felt tired and depressed, similar to amphetamine withdrawal. If this doesn't go away soon you may need to take a small dose of Parnate and taper gradually off that. Sometimes very sudden changes in drug level can cause lingering functional changes in the receptors.
