Or possibly the third option?

In reply to depression - situational or environmental?, posted by becksFLA on July 18, 2007, at 21:41:07

My guess for myself, is that it's a combination -- my biological vulnerability to depression makes it more difficult for me to cope with situations which may lead to feeling low, which in turn increases depression. My guess is that there's some of that for you, too -- a combination of situational and biological factors.

Have you tried ADs in the past? If you have, and they've helped, then I would probably recommend trying again. What I've found in my life is that, no matter how horrible my life is, on antidepressants I can cope with it much better.

Despite all the downsides to ADs, they still make it possible for me to cope better.

Good luck, whatever you decide.
