Ativan was the best for me but still sedating. GABA pills were hit or miss. Seemed like I built up a tolerance very quickly to GABA. L-Tryptophan can be very anxiolotic. Short lived effects though in my experience. But if you take it several times a day it may work well and also have an antidepresant effect. I'm currently trying a small dose of Lithium and so far it's very good. Slows things down without being tired. Lithium has a 24hr half life.
